Nothing better than Wizard money and a confectioner's treat!
I finally grabbed that Gringotts coins pouch on Dec 2019 - Jan 2020 Magical Mischief trip to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Each year, previously, I had been visiting and re-visiting the Goblin sitting there and coming back empty handed. He's one sulky Gringotts staff fellow. You go in there, you try thinking of something to say / ask. And he doesn't miss a chance to be sarcastic and sulky. This year I asked him (or rather, made Sara ask):
"What's your New Year resolution?"
His sullen reply:
"Work!"
Ah, for once I agree with Sulk Face.
So, why did I not buy this treasure pouch earlier? I always wanted to come back for something. And then there's always a lot we are spending on each trip, so this was always something that was left for later.
The Maths of the Wizarding World Currency.
A Knut (pronounced CA-NUT) is a bronze coin, smallest in value.
29 Knuts = 1 Sickle (silver coin)
17 Sickles = 1 Galleon (gold coin)
493 Knuts = 1 Galleon
I was introduced to the Wizarding currency in the very first book Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone when Harry asks Hagrid how would he afford all the stuff on the Hogwarts list. To that, Hagrid introduces him to Gringotts - the wizard bank! There, in Harry's vault, were piles upon piles of Galleons, Sickles, and Knuts. That's the fortune left to Harry by his parents who worked high-paying Auror jobs.
So the chocolate coins pouch...
I haven't had the chance to eat the chocolate coins yet but the rich smell wafting from it is irresistable! That means I'll be back with reviews once I eat eat eat!
