At 1:15am my mother was playing the Covidiot commentary in bed besides me! 

How do I sleep in this Age of Covidiots?

Earlier, she had spent her day listening, reading, and forwarding it too! I am referring to the coronavirus news in case you are confused. There's a scary story everywhere: stubborn politicians not taking responsibility for the spread of the killer virus, silly analysts/journalists asking critical questions on repeat, healthcare people screaming for help and requesting some common sense, the suffering victims, and the non-serious folks who think it is all a sci-fi scam and will blow over.

Covidiot is a term that's been invented to address a new breed of idiots and I have seen my fair share. Speaking of the ones I have known ... 

Mostly the couples refused to take notice until the state was put on a lockdown. They were still tagging themselves at restaurants with "hubby", "baby", or "hubster" while sensible people were reasonably stocking to prep for a shutdown. Stubborn members of the Mommy clubs refused to stop 'Mommying' and continued library and park visits with the little ones. Thankfully, everything was shutdown! 

Speaking of stocking ... I witnessed the toilet paper, mineral water, and sanitizer loot of 2020. Seriously! I could not comprehend as to why toilet paper was hoarded until my (Muslim) community came up with Lota humor. The Lota is a staple concept of every Muslim / Desi (Indian and Pakistani) household. It made it to the Chicago Sun Times this year as the toilet paper crisis struck. The watering can type container (or an alternative: water bottle, cup, etc) simply says: 

Wash Your Bum!

So the world can rest assure that I for one did not hoard toilet paper. As a matter of fact, I stopped using it too generously. So looting is another thing Covidiots did.
It continues to be a deadly scare around the globe. Neighborhoods, cities, states, and countries all over the world have been quarantined. And Covidiots continue to breach the code. Friends and relatives in Karachi city (Pakistan) are telling us about the night cricket going on as people sit at home. There are rogue bikers on the road cruising around for entertainment.
Well, we have always survived idiocy, right?
