Quarantine Diaries: Virus Invasion, Aliens, & Gratitude

You are reading the ðŸ¦ ☢️Quarantine Diaries🚨🛑
I am not a nagging person, and have seen little miracles in everything that happens - even the darn milk spilling over on the electric stove and burning to form an impossible to remove crust! With the Covid-19 scare, I am beginning to be thankful even more. I am scared to the bones! But grateful. Grateful about a full pantry, good health, and good TV. Gratitude is the tagline of my life! Alhamdulillah (All Praise for God) is the word.
The doctors have switched to telemedicine! Mom will be seeing her pain management physician on a video call instead of walking into germ zone. How epic is that? People are working from home! The only things that cannot happen is a much needed haircut in time for summers, seasonal window shopping and retail therapy to soothe the nerves, and Starbucks visit where I would sit sipping Chai Tea Latte and temporarily lose track of time and space.
It is ironic how humans always think of quarantine when they think alien invasion. Aliens landed - world is put into quarantine. That's the plan right? Well, all spaceships have currently diverted because Mother Earth is infested! We rest our hopes (the sci-fi perspective) in V-Wars and a good looking epidemiologist devising a rescue plan to save humankind.
Little did I know when I was drawing "Tomorrow's World" in grade five - alien invasion, quarantine, and everybody using computers while captive at home - that my sketch would come true. I didn't get much appreciation for that back then. 1995 was it? Yes. The art teacher just gave me a very weird stare and asked what in the world (pun intended) did I mean by aliens. *sigh* I assume she was alien (another pun intended) to the concept of Area 51. Too bad Maxwell Evans happened on TV way later and I couldn't show the lady what alien meant.
So, just when humans thought they were invincible and only the powerful lot of them could inflict on the weak, the Coronavirus popped the power bubble. Well? ... Here we are, our territories invaded by the plague. The most speedy and advanced of technologies are unable to contain it. It triggered off in China and got all around the world. That should be some lesson for humankind. We are not divided. When one suffers, the other will suffer. It is not wise to draw walls and feel safe and powerful within those wards.
Everyone should understand.
