Time Will Remember

Time will remember this plague,
When carnival cities lay still
Fear and death paraded at will.
Gloom hit the happy places,
Each glance - cold, empty spaces.
Death took loved ones; it seemed, for fun!
The crazy went out! Another grocery run!
O! The great hoard!
The toilet paper bandwagon!
All Aboard!
I will remember how they fought,
Some for things, some for life,
And some, simply a fighting lot!
When the world halted every war,
In observance of the new horror!
For once, the stats did not mention
The race and color of the infection!
For once, nobody asked,
What's your color behind the mask?
When the world stood one in fight
To, for once, do what's right.
To love, to save, to honor,
But ironic! Under a deathly banner!
I will remember,
Time will remember.
