Frost & Flurry, Being Merry

Winters are officially beginning from the 22nd if my memory serves me right. But the seasonal decorations and festive spirits didn't wait. As December began, trees studded with hundreds of ornaments, funny-looking puppets and dolls, and lighting went up in stores, malls, and even in neighborhoods. I'm not Christian so I do not celebrate Christmas but the decorations are more of a winter festivity to me and so I click away photos.

I am a winter child so I do take a special liking towards winters, but, they do bother me a lot in terms of health. May Allah be very kind to everybody including me and keep us warm and well, amen!

Winter is always the adventurous escort into a new year. 2012, too, shall be welcomed in frosts and flurries, inshAllah (God Willing).

Shopping trips to malls and grocery stores become more like visits to Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory because of the candies and decorative trees and toys stacked in the shelves and flooding the aisles. This is one season when I see adults buying toys.

My share of winter entertainment rests in coffeehouses where seasonal handcrafted beverages greet the season with caramel and peppermint. There's also the Holiday Pie selling like crazy for 50 cents per piece at McDonald's.

The Starbucks' winter advertisement is singing the winter spirit.
