Dancing The Fight Away

“Dance, when you're broken open. Dance, if you've torn the bandage off. Dance in the middle of the fighting. Dance in your blood. Dance when you're perfectly free.” ― Rumi

A broken soul knew not of dance,
Danced little when it tore the bandage,
Now is a war dance!
And it dances the fight away.

Its feet were bound in chains of doubt
Its heart was caged in bars of ache
Its voice was muffled by screams of doubt
A broken soul knew not of dance

Blades of beauty cracked its shell
Might of solitude broke its heartache
Expressionism gave voice to spirit
Danced little when it tore the bandage

Then was a tyranny of self
Today is a rule of the phoenix
Tomorrow, the age of an empress
Now is a war dance!

Many attack to break the rhythm
Countless blows to self-esteem
It holds the blade of power!
And it dances the fight away.

Prompt Day 17: Are You Dancing?
Poetry Structure: Cascade
Cascade, a form created by Udit Bhatia, is all about receptiveness, but in a smooth cascading way like a waterfall. The poem does not have any rhyme scheme; therefore, the layout is simple. Say the first verse has three lines. Line one of verse one becomes the last line of verse two. To follow in suit, the second line of verse one becomes the last line of verse three. The third line of verse one now becomes the last line of verse four, the last stanza of the poem. See the structure example below:
